Crowdfunding Panel: Embracing the New Economy

Explore crowdfunding, a powerful tool for getting your idea, creative endeavor or purposeful passion to the public.  Crowdfunding is funding a company through many (usually small) investments by a large number of people (the “crowd”).  A panel discussion on crowdfunding and it's implications for the new economy, trends in the new funding model and lessons learned by experienced entrepreneurs. Q & A to follow. *Recommendation: Attend the Crowdfunding Ideation Workshop and Crowdfunding Video 101 workshop. BEG - ADV

Crowdfunding Ideation Workshop:
Through a collaborative creative process discover how your crowdfunding idea fairs, shine light on the overlooked aspects, and gain insights through peer reflections. Harness the power of collaboration and tap into your creative genius through this fast paced ideation session providing a framework you can use throughout the crowdfunding process.
*Recommendation: Attend the Crowdfunding Panel discussion and Crowdfunding Video 101 workshop. BEG - ADV

Crowdfunding Video 101:
Learn how to create an effective Crowdfunding Video.  We will review the elements to include in your video, a general shot list, and process.  The Crowdfunding Ideation Session held earlier will lend campaign ideas for our videos story.  Whether you are looking to create a video for your own idea or collaborate on a project in the future, this session will offer a framework for your crowdfunding video work.  INT - ADV  *Recommendation: Attend the Crowdfunding Ideation session and Crowdfunding Panel discussion.

In collaboration with HUBSTN, MINDHUB, Angel Ventures Mexico, Global Shapers Tijuana, and a team of forward thinkers Innovators Collective will bring an ideation session to get the program started.

With support from building teams, solving the civic problem through tech applications, aligning resources, and continued support we hope the solution selected as winner from the two day hackathon becomes an impactful solution in Tijuanas changing ecosystem.

1. What materials or equipment should I bring to the event (laptop, USB, charger, etc.?)

As a participant you must bring an official photo identification (name must match the registry) and a laptop with charger, mobile phone and its charger (if applicable), and most importantly, creativity and desire to have fun.

2. Will the problem to solve be free choice, or will it be listed / selected at the event?

The problem to solve will be chosen by the participants (must solve some problems related to migration, mobility and security); you can choose it when selecting your team on July 17th, during the Pre - Hackathon or you may bring the selected problem before, and will be your selection. The only requirement is to develop something that helps the community related to any of these three concepts.

3. What kind of interface or program can be created? are there any requirements on the type of program?

Participants can create whatever they like, a website, mobile application, and others. All codes should be developed during the hackathon (may use open source libraries and APIs). The Hacks will be evaluated based on their creativity, technical difficulty, useful, and most of all that is great.

4. The solution must be fully developed at the event? Will the programming language be free?

All attendees begin to encode at the same time to maintain fair competition. If you want to win, please don’t work on a previous code. You are allowed to work on previous design, digital models, open source frameworks, or anything else that is available to others, always trying to stay within the rules.

5. Will the teams be formed randomly, or how many participants will each team consist of?

The number of members will be limited to 5 people in each team; you can also work individually, if you wish. In the Pre - Hackathon you will have time to meet other attendees, and if you like, we can help you choose your team the same day. If you know someone with whom you want to build your team, please sign up to Eventbrite all individually and on July 17 during the Hackathon Pre - register them as a team.
